It is designed for businesses such as accounting or bookkeeping firms that hire staff bookkeepers to work on client's books or for staffing agencies that want to test applicants QuickBooks knowledge before referring them for a position.
Basic Bookkeeper Exam
This exam has 47 questions and tests for general knowledge of QuickBooks in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking. It DOES NOT test for accounting knowledge. It is designed for any business that utilizes a "data entry" bookkeeper to enter day-to-day transactions. It is highly recommended that this business have a staff accountant or CPA firm that sets-up the accounting system and procedures; reviews the data entry regularly; prepares the financials statements; and prepares payroll tax and sales tax returns.
Construction Industry
This exam has 75 questions and tests for industry specific knowledge such as job costing, 1099's, estimates, change orders and progress invoicing; general QuickBooks functions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking; and general accounting knowledge.
It is designed for businesses that are involved with commercial or residential building. Businesses such as: General Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Specialty Trades, & Real Estate Developers, etc.
Non-Profit Industry
This exam has 57 questions and tests for industry specific knowledge such as donor tracking, grant/contract/program tracking, and funds tracking; general QuickBooks functions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking; and general accounting knowledge.
It is designed for non-profit organizations such as churches, homeowners associations, clubs, organizations or foundations.
Professional Services Industry
This exam has 71 questions and tests for industry specific knowledge such as invoicing clients for staff time and reimbursable expenses and tracking retainers; general QuickBooks functions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking; and general accounting knowledge.
It is designed for businesses that provide a service and have little or no inventory. Businesses such as: architecture, accounting/bookkeeping, marketing/PR, writing, photography, engineering, medical/dental, legal, sales agents, IT, financial services, interior design, health clubs, outfitters, lodging, Real Estate Brokers, etc.
Retail Industry - Using QuickBooks Inventory Feature
This exam has 84 questions and tests for industry specific knowledge such as inventory set-up and tracking, recording sales on account and cash sales, and giving refunds; general QuickBooks functions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking; and general accounting knowledge.
It is designed for businesses that sell products & use QuickBooks inventory feature to track the products. Businesses such as: art dealers, florists, health stores, gift stores, auto accessories/parts, hair salons, rental stores, repairs & maintenance shops, home furnishings, office supplies/equipment stores, etc.
Retail Industry - Not Using QuickBooks Inventory Feature
This exam has 73 questions and tests for industry specific knowledge; general QuickBooks functions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking; and general accounting knowledge.
It is designed for businesses who sell products & DO NOT use QuickBooks inventory feature to track the products. This includes businesses that use QuickBooks Point of Sale, a third party point of sale software or a cash register to track sales.
